Benefit fraud tops £140m PDF Print E-mail

Record levels of benefit fraud have been detected by a local government watchdog using computer technology.

Benefit fraud is on the rise and has topped more than £140m a year, says the Audit Commission.

The National Fraud Initiative (NFI) report 2006/07 says this is a 26 percent increase from £111m in 2004/05.

Scottish Gas have informed us that The Warm Deal qualifying benefits of Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credit have changed. This is effective from 6th April 2008 and have been raised from £16,017 to £16,642.
