Children as young as eight treated for drink PDF Print E-mail

More than 100 children a week are being treated in Scottish accident and emergency departments for problems caused by alcohol abuse.

An official NHS survey found pupils as young as eight are being rushed to hospital intoxicated or suffering injuries as a result of drunken assaults or falls.

NSPCC launches trafficking poster PDF Print E-mail

A poster campaign aimed at tackling trafficking of children has been launched by the NSPCC.

The children's charity is to distribute 2,000 copies of the image to hospitals, ports and transport companies, urging staff to watch out for youngsters.

Edinburgh-based researchers raised questions about the level of training given to night-shift carers and a lack of routine inspections.
