When we receive your application we will contact you within 1 week to discuss your application. We will prepare training for any assessors you nominate and get back to them with a date. We also recommend that the person nominated as the main contact person for your service, attend training. The FRF co-ordinator will then assign an assessment team of two assessors to guide you through the Quality Standards process.

The Quality Standards are peer assessed. This means that your service will be assigned assessors who work for an advice agency in Fife. As well as carrying out the assessment, the assessors are there to encourage, support and help you through the assessment process. They may help with the development of an outline portfolio or assist in the design of policies and processes. If a service requires expert help in a particular field, the assessor can use the Fife Rights Forum network to access that expertise.

Some services may already work to standards that cover parts (or all) of the FRF Quality Standards. To avoid duplication of work the Fife Rights Forum has developed a passporting system. For services working to other recognised standards an independent verifier will:

a) Undertake an initial reading of both standards to assess any differences.

b) Make at least one visit to the service to prepare (with the service) a "note of agreement" on assessment.  
    The assessors assigned to the service will be notified of any note of agreement.

c) The note of agreement will provide the basis for any further assessment.

 

For services working to comprehensive standards, the note of agreement could recommend an immediate award of the FRF Quality Mark without further assessment.

A passporting agreement will normally be in place by the time the assessment is due to begin.

The FRF Quality Standards Logo is awarded for a period of three years. Towards the end of that period an organisation shall apply for a review assessment. The FRF coordinator, assessors and the organisation shall agree a new assessment timetable. If successful the organisation shall be awarded the Quality Standards Logo for a further three years.
