a) The application form for the quality standards scheme can be downloaded by clicking on the following: - Application Form (18.28 kB).
This form asks that you complete the contact details for the person who is going to lead your service through the quality standards process. We also ask that your service nominates at least one assessor to be involved in assessing other agencies.

b) Should your service already hold other standards (e.g. Investors in People) you should make this clear on the application form. Your service can be passported or part passported into the FRF quality standards scheme on the basis of standards already held.

c) You will be contacted to let you know;

    i) When assessor training is taking place,

    ii) When you can expect assessors to be appointed to your service and

    iii) If applicable, when our independent verifier will contact you for passporting purposes.

 The assessment team (2 persons) assigned is there to help and support the service through the quality standards process as well as playing a more formal role in assessing the services self-assessment.  If you are encountering difficulties with any part of the quality standards scheme the assessment team should be the first point of contact.  It is the responsibility of the assessment team to make initial contact with the agency.

The FRF quality standards scheme is primarily a self-assessment tool to help services improve. Begin to compile your portfolio of evidence and work on the QSATS to go through the assessment process. The initial self-assessment may point to gaps and highlight areas where changes and improvements need to be made to reach the level you require. The assessment may also point to areas where you would like to seek an exemption.  You must state and substantiate your reasons for requesting an exemption. You can discuss exemptions and any issues arising from your initial self-assessment with your assessors.

Once you have gathered all the evidence you need to meet the requirements of your chosen level of the Quality Standards, use the QSATS system to notify the assessment team that you are ready to be assessed.  The assessors will log into QSATS and comprehensively check all of the evidence for the standards and complete their assessment.  They may ask for more evidence to be presented or they may check the evidence by asking to speak to an appropriate member of staff. 

The assessment team and your service will agree the results of the assessment process and these will be passed onto the FRF Certification Board.  The Certification Board will review the evidence and make the award.  You will be notified of the award and supplied with a certificate and publicity materials.
