Shared care Scotland is a charity which exists to promote the development of imaginative, flexible needs-led short break services (also known as respite care) for carers and the people they care for. Services include the provision of an information / advice service as well as a national database of alternative types of respite provision available throughout Scotland. In scotland it is estimated there are 670,000 people who care for a family member,partner or friend , who may be ill, disabled, or dependant on drugs or alcohol.Short Break servicesprovide much -needed support by providing the time the oppurtunity for activities which contribute to the health, well being and quality of life of those in the caring relationship.
