This team provides advice and support to staff working in the Local Services Centres also to, Fife Housing Register partners, support providers, other services of Fife Council , voluntary sector agencies and professionals working with tenants and/or prospective tenants of Fife Council.
They participate in the delivery of services of the Local Services Network, by contributing to the training and development of staff, carrying out process improvement along with providing a coaching and mentoring role.
Three key areas of work are: Housing Options Advice, Housing Support & Specific Needs Housing:
Housing Options Advice This comprehensive service is offered to anyone seeking advice on any aspect of social housing. All first time applicants, when completing an application form for housing by Fife Council or any of the Fife Housing Register partners are offered a Housing Options interview.
Housing Support This service is available to anyone who lives in a Fife Council tenancy and/or a member of their household. Housing Support is provided to those who are experiencing difficulties managing their home and/or who are at risk of losing their home.
Specific Needs Housing This is the provision of specialist housing for applicants with specific needs. Housing is procured for these individuals who wish to live independently in the community where they can also receive the required specialist care and support. Examples of these are people who are being discharged from hospital after long term care or as part of a hospital discharge programme.

From 1st September 2010 all referrals for short-term housing support should be made via FORT to the Advice and Specific Needs Team.
