The Glenrothes YMCA-YWCA is well known in the town and Fife, for three specific services: Housing for young homeless people, drugs education (DELTA) and youth and community support.
The YMCA-YWCA delivers many services from its central community centre in North Street , Glenrothes. From here numerous community learning and leisure activities take place – from youth clubs, disco dancing to badminton and music tuition. The centre also provides information, advice, laundry and shower facilities for homeless people as well as signposting for other services in Glenrothes and Fife . A variety of community groups also use the building. Activities range from counselling, young carers support to health checks and soup kitchens for the homeless.
Throughout the week Glenrothes YMCA-YWCA staff provide information, advice, laundry and shower facilities for young and older homeless people from its community centre in North Street . Specialist agencies from NHS Fife and the health sector use the building between Monday and Friday. On Wednesday afternoons the “The One Stop Shop” comprising Churches Together and Glenrothes YMCA-YWCA provides free hot food and signposting for other services for the homeless in Glenrothes and Fife.
Homeless Housing
The "Y" runs three Glenrothes hostels and 15 flats that offer accommodation and support to 50 young homeless people between the ages of 16 and 25. Three of the 15 community flats, are 2 bedroomed and are allocated to families who are homeless and in need of short term support. For those with high level support needs Glenrothes YMCA-YWCA will refer that young person to specialist external agencies concerned with drug dependency, mental health and so on.

Drugs Education Liaison Training Agency (DELTA)
The “Y” also manages Delta (Drugs Education Liason Training Agency) which provides a Fife-wide formal and informal drugs education service through a team of 5 specialist workers. Sessions held at Fife primary and secondary schools.

The “Y” Housing Service takes referrals via Fife Council Accommodation Service for young male and female clients aged 16 – 25yrs who find themselves homeless. This is the Statutory requirement and the sole route for referrals. We provide temporary supported accommodation for clients who have applied to Fife Housing Register for permanent accommodation within Fife.
