A View from the Chair- Peter Wilson, QPM
This is the second annual report of Fife Law Centre, which documents the activities and achievements of the Centre for the financial year 2010 / 2011.
After the anticipation and excitement of the first year, the second 12 months has been a period of assessment and review, to calibrate the nature of the demand, to reflect upon our capacity to respond, and to determine how the Law Centre might set its objectives for the future.
I am delighted to record that the impact of our staff in the first year provided confidence in our funders to continue with their support for year two. The work of the Board is now focused on ensuring both stability and sustainability as public sector funding becomes increasingly tight. To ensure that the Board was in a confident position to plan for the future, the services of Otterburn Consulting were engaged to provide an external legally based assessment of the operation of Fife Law Centre, to check against similar operations and models elsewhere, and tooffer recommendations as to how the Law Centre might proceed in the future. I am grateful to Andrew Otterburn and Fiona Westwood for the thoroughness of their examination, their interest in seeing the Law Centre flourish, and their thoughtful advice.
