Link Up Community Development Worker - Kirkcaldy YMCA

 

Kirkcaldy YMCA are recruiting a Community Development Worker for the Link Up Programme, in partnership with Inspiring Scotland.

 

This 32 hour post is initially a fixed term appointment until 31 March 2014, salary fixed point £29208 pro rata.

 

A degree in Community Education and relevant experience is essential for this post and you will be required to be registered as a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

The purpose of the post:

 

Purpose is to develop and facilitate ‘links’ that bring people in a community together to undertake mutually beneficial activities, using this experience to increase the confidence and capacity of the individuals involved and to begin improving the community’s effectiveness in addressing its own problems.

 

Dimensions

  • Responsible for developing and facilitating concurrently, up to five small projects or ‘links’. Activities within each ‘link’ will be based on local residents interests, and planned with them.
  • Report to line manager, with local programme oversight provided by Kirkcaldy YMCA and a Steering Group
  • Will work closely with Inspiring Scotland to evaluate the programme, network and learn from other partners in the Link Up portfolio

 

Key Responsibilities & Outputs

  • Develop effective relationships with key community stakeholders to harness their support and resources, and plan activities.
  • Develop, consult with and report to a local Steering Group made up of key service delivery stakeholders and local figures.
  • Produce a ‘Baseline Report’ documenting the key issues for the local area; community’s ‘assets’and actual and/or possible community connections in the area.
  • Develop a plan in consultation with Steering Committee and Inspiring Scotland detailing the links to be progressed, the activities to be undertaken for each link and the budget.
  • Continuously evaluate the performance of the links, documenting and reporting back to the local Steering Group and Inspiring Scotland on short and medium term outcomes as well as key learning points in relation to the methodologies/tools/techniques used to establish and manage the links.
  • Quarterly reports produced for Inspiring Scotland on progress against agreed milestones and budget performance.

Manager Vacancy - Age Concern Glenrothes

 

We are a long established provider of Day Centres catering for our older people locally. Currently we operate 11 day centres Monday to Friday throughout the town, with some 170 places per week. As we further develop our service along with our partners Fife Council, NHS Fife and others, we now require a Manager who can take the organisation forward relevant to meeting the needs of our older people.

 

Operating with both staff and volunteers we are looking for experience within the Third Sector at management level, ability to work with other agencies, good communication skills and creativity. Competency in drafting funding applications a benefit.

 

We require SVQ Level 3 minimum, with Level 4 or working towards desirable, or other recognised Managerial / Social Work qualification. A current driving licence is essential along with use of own car (mileage payable). Post subject to PVG Disclosure.

 

Salary: £25,500
35 hours per week
