Fife Gingerbread and partners are gathering data on the impact of changes to Income Support for Lone Parents.

They invite you to complete their form,  noting any issues relating to these changes. The evidence will be used to inform their campaign on benefits reform.

Typical issues relating to clients might include:

  • No appropriate childcare provision to access work
  • Childcare available but child refuses to go
  • Transitional arrangement – crisis loan?
  • Financial hardship due to switching from Income Support (weekly) to Job Seekers Allowance (fortnightly)
  • Childcare too expensive
  • Heavily in debt in moment and frightened wages would be arrested
  • Children have behavioural/ emotional/ addiction/issues – making employment unrealistic
  • Ability to earn - minimum wage - not enough to pay the bills?
  • Housing costs – (private rent)
  • Access to Education- cannot do course as have to be available for work Family crisis/chaotic
